Dr. Tariq Ibrahim Mahdi, Head of the Department and Consultant of General and Bariatric Surgery at the University Hospital Sharjah, confirmed that studies have proven that 92% of diabetic cases are treated if modern bariatric operations are performed and that the number of surgeries for all types of obesity in the hospital is 50 operations per month.

Applied scientific research was also conducted on 70 adolescents who underwent sleeve gastrectomy and achieved good results that exceed international rates, pointing out that obesity is a disease and not only an aesthetic change, and it must be treated and prevented.

Ms. Fatima Al Hilo, Clinical Dietitian at the University Hospital Sharjah, confirmed that Hundreds of patients are received per month from the nutrition clinic 3 clinics, and the majority of them are obese patients, and there are several ways to deal with obese cases until their owners reach a healthy weight. The treatment depends on the degree of obesity, by calculating the percentage of body mass and general health status, in addition to the patient's desire to follow a diet. The treatment methods include following a diet with appropriate calories for the patient, exercising regularly, and correcting wrong behaviors. In the event of an increase in obesity, patients are referred to surgery for a sleeve gastrectomy or other procedures.
