Widely known as Lap-Band surgery, it is a type of minimally invasive weight loss surgery (bariatric surgery) that involves placing a band around the upper part of the stomach to reduce the size of the stomach thus limiting the capacity of food intake but it doesn't reduce the absorption of calories and nutrients. The adjustable Gastric La-Band involves an inflatable silicone band that is placed around the upper portion of the stomach to achieve weight loss. This creates a small stomach pouch above the band and leaving the rest of the stomach intact below it.
